How to Create Your First Index Bot

An index bot holds a basket of cryptocurrencies at target weights you choose, and automatically rebalances to keep those weights on track. Here's how to set one up.

1. Connect your exchange

If you haven't already, connect your exchange with trade-only API keys.

2. Choose your coins and weights

Pick the cryptocurrencies you want in your index and assign each a target percentage. The weights should add up to 100%. Not sure where to start? Read The Perfect Cryptocurrency Portfolio and What Is a Crypto Index Fund?.

3. Set your rebalance threshold

Choose how far an asset can drift from its target before the bot rebalances (for example, 5%). A wider threshold means fewer trades and lower fees; a tighter one tracks your target more closely. Learn more in How Automatic Rebalancing Works.

4. Activate

Review your settings and activate the bot. From now on it monitors your portfolio and rebalances automatically — no manual trading required. You can pause, edit, or delete the bot from your dashboard at any time.

You'll need an active subscription to run a live bot; see Managing Your Subscription.
